FAQs
Do I have to use a primer with Ultraplan® 1 Plus?
MAPEI's Ultraplan 1 Plus always requires the use of a primer, such as MAPEI's Primer T™ .
What are the minimum requirements for using Ultraplan® 1 Plus over plywood?
All plywood substrates must consist of a double layer of exterior-grade plywood. Each layer should be at least 5/8" (16 mm) to 3/4" (19 mm) thick, to equal a total combined thickness of at least 1-1/4" (3.2 cm).
Will Ultraplan® 1 Plus level by itself?
MAPEI's Ultraplan 1 Plus is not as fluid as water. So, it requires a little help in guiding the flow of the mixed product and in smoothing out the surface. The use of a self-leveling tool kit often helps to obtain a smooth, level, finished surface.
Can I pour MAPEI's Ultraplan® 1 Plus by myself?
Ideally, there should be at least three people present when pouring a self-leveling underlayment such as MAPEI's Ultraplan 1 Plus. It is best to have one person mixing, one person smoothing, and one person pouring and transporting the buckets of mixed product.
Should I use Primer T™ at full strength?
When using MAPEI's Primer T over plywood, cement board and smooth concrete, or existing flooring such as ceramic tile, porcelain tile, natural stone and VCT, apply Primer T at full strength (do not add any water). Primer T should also be used at full strength between multiple layers of MAPEI's Ultraplan® 1 Plus.
