When should I dilute Primer T™?

When using Primer T over porous substrates, such as wall-patching compound, drywall, existing gypsum-based underlayments and rough concrete, dilute Primer T with water. When diluting MAPEI's Primer T with water, mix 2 parts cool water to 1 part Primer T.

Apply MAPEI's Primer T with a 3/8" (10-mm) nap paint roller.

Can Type 1™ mastic be used over drywall?

Yes, MAPEI's Type 1 can be used to set tile over clean drywall. All areas with wall mud (gypsum-based patching compounds) must be primed with MAPEI's Primer T™ before application of Type 1.

Should I use Primer T™ at full strength?

When using MAPEI's Primer T over plywood, cement board and smooth concrete, or existing flooring such as ceramic tile, porcelain tile, natural stone and VCT, apply Primer T at full strength (do not add any water). Primer T should also be used at full strength between multiple layers of MAPEI's Ultraplan® 1 Plus.
