Is a non-modified mortar the same as a dry-set mortar?
Yes, there are several terms used to describe a cement-based tile mortar that does not contain any polymer, such as "unmodified," "non-modified" and "dry-set" mortar. MAPEI's Keraflor® does not contain polymer and is considered non-modified. If you add a liquid latex additive, such as MAPEI's Keraply®, to a non-modified mortar, it becomes modified.
Can Premium Mortar be used outside?
MAPEI's Premium Mortar for tile and stone should not be used for exterior installations. Polymer-modified, cement-based mortars that are generally recommended for installing tile outside include MAPEI's Ultraflex® LFT™ mortar, and MAPEI's Keraflor® mortar mixed with MAPEI's Keraply® additive.
